Electronic waste is the world’s fastest-growing waste stream. Every year, over 50 million metric tons of e-waste are generated globally—but only about 17% is formally recycled. In Brazil, that number is even lower.

Inside discarded devices are valuable metals like gold, silver, copper, and rare earths—many of which are limited, non-renewable, and energy-intensive to mine. Improper disposal also leads to toxic leaks into soil and water.
